Mr Mahendra Agarwal is the Founder and CEO of Gati Ltd, a leader and pioneer in Express Distribution and Supply Chain Solutions established in 1989. Mr Agarwal was the first in India to conceptualize logistics concepts including Door Pick-up and Door Delivery, Express Cargo, Retail Express Cargo, Multimodal Express Delivery, and Integrated Logistics.
Mr Agarwal has been the recipient of numerous awards, including two Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2010 ̶ one at the 4th Express Logistics & Supply Chain Conclave held in Mumbai and the other by the Asian School of Business Management, Executive of the Year (Logistics) by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in 2012, and the Logistics Promoter Award at the Logistics Talent Hunt 2012 International Conference. In October 2015, he was also presented with the prestigious NITIE Empresario “Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year” award for his contributions to the Indian Logistics Industry.
Mr Agarwal is on the Board of several Indian companies; he is the founding member of SCLG India (in addition to being a member of the international board of advisors for SCLG Global), and a member of various industry bodies in India. He holds an Engineering Degree from Bangalore University and a Masters in Business Administration from Austin, Texas.
Mr Samir Somaiya joined Godavari Biorefineries in 1993, and leads the company with a focus on economic, social and environmental sustainability, supported by research and innovation. Continuing the heritage of his father and grandfather, Mr Somaiya plays an active role in initiatives that improve the quality of life of the underprivileged sections of society.
Mr Somaiya has played an active role in the Sugar and Chemical industry in India. From 2006-2008, he served as the Chairman (Western Region) of the Indian Chemical Council, and in 2009 as the President of the Indian Sugar Mills Association. He is a member of multiple committees and boards, including the Green Chemistry Initiative, the Advisory Board of the School of Chemical Engineering of Cornell University, and the Center for Indic Studies, University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
Mr Somaiya graduated from Cornell University with a Masters in Chemical Engineering in 1992, and secured an MBA from Cornell University in 1993 and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University in 2005. He won the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ Award for Scholastic Achievement in 1989 and the American Institute of Chemists Award in 1990. Mr Somaiya is also a Visiting Instructor at the School of Chemical Engineering at Cornell University.
Mr Ashok Jain is the Executive Chairman of Jain Irrigation Systems having joined the management team in 1982 as incharge of Marketing and Extension Services in Maharashtra and other states. In 1993 he became Director and has been responsible for Corporate Administration, Corporate Image and Relationships, Events Management, Personnel/Human Resource Development, Communication, Public Relations, Art and Publicity. Mr Jain also acts as Director responsible for the Food Processing, Solar and TC Business. Mr Jain holds a graduate degree in Commerce from Pune University.
Mr Anil Jain has a Commerce Degree from Pune University and a Law Degree from Mumbai University. He joined Jain Irrigation’s management team in 1984 in charge of the company’s US-based marketing operations, and has served as Managing Director since 1993. Mr Jain has an extensive background and experience in Finance, Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategic Planning, Restructuring Operations, Export Marketing, International Business Relations, collaborations and joint ventures.
Mr Ajit Jain has been the Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems since 1994. He is an engineering graduate from Dnyaneshwar University. Mr Jain is the Director responsible for the Drip Irrigation division, including guidance for extension service and development of new applications and products. He joined the management of the company in 1984 and started his training in production and maintenance in the Pipe division. During 1985–1990, he was in charge of establishing the company’s new pipe production plant in Madhya Pradesh. In 1991, he was appointed Director with the overall responsibility of the manufacturing plant at Jalgaon, including production, maintenance and marketing.
Mr Atul Jain has been the Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems since 2011. He holds a graduate degree in Commerce from Pune University. Mr Jain joined the management team in 1992; from 1994–2000, he was responsible for the company’s Europe-based marketing operations and of developing and maintaining the market for PVC sheets, dehydrated onion, fruit pulp, among others. Presently, he focuses on marketing the group’s products on a global basis, in addition to being a Director responsible for the Pipe division.
Mr Mahendra Jalan is the Chairman of the Keventer Group, with business interests in dairy, food processing, real estate, port, steel, and other industrial sectors. Mr Jalan is also the Director of Keventer Agro, and the Chairman of MKJ Enterprise, which deals in alloy and stainless steel products in India and abroad. He has extensive knowledge in international marketing, especially on the trends in UK, USA, Germany, and Japan. He is the promoter of Metro Dairy, the first joint sector dairy project under the Operation Flood project. Mr Jalan is a board member of various companies, including Bengal NRI Complex, Keventer Projects, and Edward Keventer.
Mr Jalan has served as the French Honorary Consul General and is currently the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Kolkata. Mr Jalan is a graduate from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, and an alumni member of Harvard Business School.
Mr Mayank Jalan is a first-class degree holder in Mechanical Engineering from University College London, he also has a degree in Business Finance from the London School of Economics. His core strength is managing strategic growth while ensuring a level of profitability essential for generation of internal funds that fuel rapid growth. His proficiency in managing a complex supply chain has delivered steady top-line increments as well as bottom-line accruals.
Mr Jalan has previously worked as a Research Analysis Expert in Credit Agricole Indosuez in London, and with Smifs Financing in Kolkata, India, marketing Mutual Funds.
Mr Raj Ketkar joined Arcadia as President and CEO in May 2016, bringing nearly 35 years of agriculture and agricultural biotechnology business experience in the U.S. and internationally, including more than 30 years in a variety of business, operations, and strategy roles for Monsanto Company. His positions included Managing Director of the Mahyco-Monsanto Biotech joint venture in India and Director of Biotechnology Strategy and Operations. Mr Ketkar holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.
Mr Arvind Sonmale is a career Banker having been in the industry for over 41 years. He was the Chief General Manager handling Corporate Finance and Recoveries in Exim Bank, Mumbai. Mr Sonmale was also Managing Director and CEO of Global Trade Finance Ltd (GTF) promoted by Exim Bank with equity participation from IFC, Washington and FIM Bank, Malta. He has been on the managing councils of Industry Associations such as CII, IMC, and Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce. Mr Sonmale has set up SAFL from the drawing board stage to its current pre-eminent status in agriculture finance in India.
Dr Balwinder Bajwa is the Whole Time Director & CEO of Edward Food Research & Analysis Centre Limited (EFRAC). He has a Ph. D. in Molecular Genetics and an Executive Business Management degree from IIM Kolkata.
Dr Bajwa has extensive professional experience of 18+ years in the fields of Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, R & D, Processing and Manufacturing in various domains.
